Thank you for your interest in Habitat for Humanity of Central Pasco County.   Habitat’s mission is to provide simple, decent housing for all of God’s people in need.  Towards that end, Habitat for Humanity has built over 100,000 homes worldwide and hundreds in neighboring counties.  However, while this program does provide individuals the opportunity of acquiring a home of their own with a low, interest-free mortgage payment, there are, of course, conditions which must be met in order to qualify for the program, including a great deal of hard work (sweat equity). 

There will be a group meeting for all those interested in applying for our program.  This application meeting will be held on:

The purpose of this meeting is to explain our program in detail and walk you through the application form, which you will complete at this meeting.  You should be aware that many applicants are invited to this meeting.  It will be a lengthy procedure to process all the applications.  Your patience is greatly appreciated.

In order for you to be eligible to apply for the Habitat program, the following steps must be followed:

1.  All adult members of the applicant household must attend this meeting and will need:

·        Original Photo I.D.

·        Original Social Security Card

·        Photo Copies of both 

2.  All sources of income must be verified at this meeting.  Please have with you:

·        A copy of your two most recent pay stubs

·        A copy of your 2007 (if available) or 2006 Income Tax Return (will be accepted as income verification for self employed applicants).

·          Benefit Letters from all other sources of income, Social Security, SSI Disability, AFDC, pensions or retirement funds

·          Child support and alimony payments must be verified with a court order or other LEGAL documentation, showing monthly payment amounts.  Please

      bring a photocopy of these documents

3. Copies of Social Security Cards for all children who will be living in the house with you or birth certificates for those under 2 years of age.                

4. If divorced, a copy of the divorce decree so that the ex-spouse’s income will not be considered.

5. The names, phone numbers, and addresses of your two previous employers, your two previous landlords, and your bank.  Also bring a copy of your lease or two cancelled rent checks or rent receipts. 

6. Copies of the last two months of your electric bill, your phone bill, and any other utility bills (water, cable, etc.) 

In addition to the income verification documents, you must bring a non-refundable $25.00 application fee (Please note: this fee is waived for applicants applying for the second time) in the form of a MONEY ORDER.  This covers our cost of pulling a credit report.  Cash will not be accepted. 

IF YOU DO NOT BRING ALL THIS INFORMATION TO THE MEETING, ALONG WITH THE $25.00 MONEY ORDER, YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. 

Please keep in mind that only those individuals who attend this meeting and complete an application will be considered for the Habitat program.  If you do not attend this meeting you may contact Habitat when the next application meeting is announced. 

Once your application has been reviewed and the required qualifications have been met, you will be contacted so that we may arrange a home interview.  In addition, if your application is accepted for consideration, you and your (adult) family members will be required to volunteer a Saturday at a Habitat for Humanity construction site so that you may get a feeling for what working on a Habitat house entails and what being a part of a Habitat community is like.

 Families must have income too low to qualify for conventional home financing, but sufficient for them to make monthly payments on a no-profit, no-interest Habitat mortgage. 

The family must demonstrate a need for adequate shelter. This may involve structural problems of present housing, overcrowding or other problems related to inadequate or substandard shelter. 

The family must demonstrate a willingness to partner with Habitat. These factors include timely completion and return of the housing application, acceptance of a cash down payment and willingness to provide required “sweat equity” (400 hrs). Family members must also agree to attend Family Support meetings.
